About

I’m Brandy

Nomadic lover of great food, conversation and friends. I’m a mother, a wife and a friend with a witty sense of humor and a flare for the dramatic. I write about all sorts of things, from adoption, pregnancy, parenting and fertility to my personal struggles with Autoimmune Disease and the ravages it’s done to my life and my body.

Brandy, John and Jerrett - 2010

I am an adoptee that was raised in open adoption and a first mother who placed in open adoption. My adoptive mother is also a first mother and has been in reunion with the twins she placed for adoption for just over six years.

Until last summer, I was the Director of Content and Social Media at Adoption.com – the largest adoption-focused website on the internet.

To say that adoption has played a large role in my life would not be an understatement.

About The Blog

I write about a number of different things – but most of all, I write about my life and the experiences I’ve had living it. I’m an unashamed and very vocal first mother – that makes some people uncomfortable. I also parent a son with special needs — Jerrett has Asperger’s Syndrome. It’s a frustrating disability and sometimes, it’s not pretty. I don’t sugar coat it – there are days, I just plain don’t like dealing with the complexities of parenting a child with special needs. If I can’t be honest about that on my own blog, then where can I?

From time to time it may appear that my blog has turned into a medical chart for a sick person – that’s because sometimes, it might. I have a disease in which there is no cure, only symptom treatment. Currently, my immune system is attacking my liver in a manner that will ultimately require me to have a liver transplant — and when that time comes, this blog will turn into one huge drive to ensure that happens before the disease takes my life.

This blog isn’t for everyone — those of you who find the content to difficult or mundane to read are welcome to leave. It’s ok, it won’t hurt my feelings, I promise.
