What’d I do over the Thanksgiving break? I took care of a bunch off sick people – it was a barrel of monkeys, I have to tell you. Of course, then there was my birthday, which always brings back the flood of awesomeness…but really, what I did was spend endless hours watching HGTV. I really don’t care for that channel – I mean, I do, but I don’t. You know? Like it showcases my obvious limitations as a home decor expert – it also plants grandiose ideas in my head, which leads me to forget that I A) Am NOT Martha Stewart or B) Am NOT creative at all.
Anyway, one thing I kept noticing – over and over again – was on the shows where they were talking about buying a new house (or even selling a house) they kept talking about how it would be great for entertaining.
Do people seriously entertain?
I mean, I’ve had people over from time to time – but I don’t believe I’ve ever ‘entertained’ anyone – at least not on purpose.
So, do you entertain? Do people really buy houses based on their ‘entertainment value’?
Did I mention I hate HGTV? I should also mention that I hate entertaining, Martha Stewart and creative people

Thanks for being my friend even though we bought our house for its ability to entertain.
We saw many kitchens that had an isolated area behind a high counter that was the only place for a table–that leaves no possibility for having more than six people gather to eat. Where’s the fun in that?
