Well, let’s see. News for the weekend goes something like this:
- Today is the last day of steroids. I took my last titrated dose this morning and I’m hopeful that today is a bit like yesterday, only slightly better.
- The kiddo got his AFJROTC uniform on Thursday, which needed to be altered for wear on Wednesday – so we took him and his ‘gear’ up to the alteration place to get that done.
- I lack adequate storage in my bathroom so the hunt was on yesterday for some sort of cabinet that could be mounted over the toilet. It was a bust, but I did find exactly what I was looking for to solve the same problem in the kitchen, so score on that front!
- I hate shopping for curtains. I managed to get matching bamboo blinds for the back door and kitchen window, but now I need a valance and I think I picked a color combination for my kitchen that will make this search futile.
- The MRSA test from last week came back and the Dr. called me Friday night as I was on my way out the door to go meet a girlfriend for coffee – it’s, of course, positive. I am now on some antibiotics that should take care of it – and I freely admit that I paused long and hard (and did a lot of my own research) before I picked up the prescription. Knowing that this recent issue is a direct result of someone with a PhD writing a prescription for a minor fungal infection in July without asking all the right questions or reviewing my past blood work really does lend itself towards me having some serious trust issues when it comes to dealing with Dr.’s.
- I had a great conversation with one of my moms on Friday evening regarding my right to know my medical history. It’s so nice knowing that my opinion is shared by someone in my family who really isn’t involved in adoption, aside from being one of my moms.
- I am still randomly and mysteriously getting sick when I eat. There seems to be no rhyme or reason and it only happens randomly – not with every meal. This is, by far, the most frustrating part of all of this…doing something so ordinarily human and not knowing if you’ll spend the next two hours sitting in front of a toilet readying for it to come back up. This is especially fun at work, I’ll have you know.
- For the first time in a while, we let the kiddo go spend the night at a friends house who was in his class in Jr. High. This translated to the old man and I getting the house clean, going grocery shopping and having a quiet night at home.
- I have decided I am going to pre-prepare three to four meals today for this week. On the menu for sure: Meatloaf, Pepperjack Chicken and Chicken Pot Pie. Possible menu items: Shredded steak tacos.
So, as you can see – we’ve had a fun filled weekend of getting stuff done. The old man even hung a light fixture in the garage (because the old one fell down). Hopefully, the rest of the day will go smoothly and we can start this next week off with a bang. It helps knowing that next weekend is a three day weekend. Score!
